How times have changed....

Colin and I celebrated our 5th Valentine's Day together on Saturday and we laughed at how times have changed. Our previous Valentine's Days consisted of getting dressed up, going to very nice restaurants, lots of cocktails and grabbing drinks with friends at the end of the night.

This year it consisted of... Colin giving me flowers (so sweet), taking Catie to the park, going to Chevy's for dinner (yes you read that correctly, we are trying to save money), having one drink and falling asleep on the couch at 8:45 (in my defense Catie was up at 5:30 on Saturday morning). We did have a Valentine's treat on Sunday. Auntie (sister Susie) took care of Catie while Colin and I went to see a movie. It was heaven!! Thanks again Susie!
How times have changed....but how wonderful they are! We hope that everyone had a terrific Valentine's Day. xoxo

Happy Valentine's Day!

I don't work on Fridays which means that normally I don't even open up a computer for the rest of the week and weekend. I would post this tonight but Catie has her playgroup at 4:30 and typically we don't get home until 6:30 and then the bed time routine starts. I didn't want to miss wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day so I thought that I would post something a little early. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. We love you!

Catie's Stats Update

Last Thursday Catie went in for her 6 month check up. The doctor (who I love) said that she looks fantastic and is doing everything that a 6 month old should be doing. Duh, I know she is perfect.

Catie is currently 16 lbs 12 oz and 25 5/8" long. She is the in the 50% for height and the 75% for weight.

She received 5 shots on Friday. She got her standard immunizations, a flu shot and her Synagis shot (since she was born early she gets this once a month to prevent RSV). She handled the shots like a champ. She cried for about 10 second and then gave the nurse a death stare. I gave her a 1/2 oz of milk and she feel right asleep. I think that it was more traumatic for me then it was for her.

Her 9 month check up is scheduled for April 30th.

Way to go Catie!

Tag...you're it!

This past weekend Colin, Catie and I flew up to Seattle to visit Colin's sister Erin. Erin is in the interim athletic director at Seattle Pacific University. I know, awesome huh. Here is a link of you want to read about her becoming the AD http://www.spufalcons.com/news/gen/2008/7/8/0708_gen_july8.asp?path=gen
FYI- she hates the picture!

We got there on Friday and a car service picked us up due to the fact that Erin drives a beattle and having a baby means that you travel with a lot of stuff: pack n' play, car seat, stroller, luggage. They sent a town car to pick us up and a suburban to drive us back. As you can tell, we had tons of stuff. We had a great dinner and headed to bed since Saturday was a big day. The girls basketball team was playing in a televised game and Erin was being interviewed at half time. So cool!

Well, in the middle of the night I woke up and didn't feel so well. I think that I caught the stomach flu (and everything that comes with it). I didn't feel great on Saturday so I stayed away from Catie. On Saturday afternoon Catie had a bottle and then threw up everywhere (she normally doesn't even slightly spit up). We cleaned her up only for her to throw two more times. I knew that something was wrong so I called our doctor's night nurse and she told me to give her 2 tbs of pedia lite every twenty minutes for 2 hours. Once that was done I should give her 2 ounces every hour. I gave Catie a bath and start the pedia lite routine. I put Catie down for the night and she slept until 7. She seemed much better on Sunday and I felt 100% percent better. We took a 2 pm flight home and Catie slept the whole way. Things were looking good until on the way back from the airport she got sick again. I took off her clothes and covered her with a blanket and she got sick once more. It then took off the blanket and covered her with my shirt. Let's just say that it was an interesting car ride home. I called the doctor again and so began the pedia lite routine.

Catie slept next to us on Sunday night and I woke up at 3 am and noticed Colin wasn't there. I went looking for him and guess what...he caught the stomach flu and everything that went with it! I stayed home on Monday and took care of Catie and Colin who was stationed in the guest room with movies. It took about 24 hours for Colin to start to feel better and we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The stomach flu played a really mean game of tag with the O'Connell's. Let's hope for a healthy weekend.

Oh- I forgot to mention that the Falcon ladies won. It was a great game. You can read all about it here: http://www.spufalcons.com/News/wbball/2009/2/7/09_wbb_Feb7.asp?path=wbball
